"An Italian in England" Concert
“An Italian in England” Concert

Join Amersham Museum for a musical homage to the life and legacy of Francesco Ticciati—the Italian-born composer, pianist, teacher, and musical pioneer whose journey from Rome to Amersham left an enduring mark on British musical history. Performed by soprano Betty Makharinsky and pianist Pavel Timofeyevsky, this concert celebrates a remarkable local legacy.

The programme includes original songs by Ticciati alongside masterpieces by his fellow countrymen Sir Paolo Tosti, Bellini, and Rossini; classical works by Scarlatti, Chopin, Mozart, and Beethoven, recalling pieces frequently featured in Ticciati’s own recitals; Dame Myra Hess’s celebrated transcriptions of Bach, evoking the courage, resilience, and solace that music brought to Britain during its darkest hours.

The event will be in St Mary’s Church, Amersham HP7 0DB. All are welcome. Admission is £20 (£10 student/under 18).
