Plans Revealed for Lidl Store in Amersham

The international discount retailer chain Lidl revealed that it plans to open a new store on King George V Road in Amersham.

To gather feedback on the proposal, Lidl launched a public consultation. A drop-in exhibition will be held on Tue 12 Aug from 3pm to 7pm at Amersham Community Centre, Chiltern Ave, Amersham HP6 5AH. Residents will have the opportunity to view the plans, speak to the project team, and submit comments via a feedback form. Everyone is invited to attend, learn more and have your say. Please take note that the proposed location for a new store is the site of a former council office, King George V House.

King George V House was opened in 1986 as headquarters for Chiltern District Council. Since the creation of a unitary council in 2020 it had been used as the Amersham local area office of Buckinghamshire Council.

In Feb 2025 Buckinghamshire Council announced that the site (the office and car park) had been sold to the property developers, Even Group, to build new homes including affordable housing.

However, now Lidl has confirmed the purchase of the site for retail use.
