In 1793-4 Humphry Repton, the last great English landscape designer of the 18th century, was consulted by William Drake Jr on improvements to the north part of the park at Shardeloes, Amersham. After two visits to the estate, Repton produced the Red Book presenting his proposals for creating landscaped park on a site of earlier formal gardens. However only the limited implementation of his design was carried out.  To find out what was realised and what remains on paper please do come to this talk by family historian Barney Tyrwhitt-Drake.

Coffee/tea and biscuits will be available from 7.30pm. The talk starts at 8.00pm. No booking necessary. Guests and new members welcome.
