Old Amersham

Back in July, many members of the Amersham Society gathered on Church Mead to see the Mayor of Amersham (and Amersham Society member), Dominic Pinkney, unveil our information panel about the history and ecology of the River Misbourne – read more.
Now we invite you – and your friends and neighbours – to join us at 2.30pm on Sat 14 Dec on Barn Meadow to see Dominic return, to unveil our second information panel. Illustrated with images from Amersham Museum’s collection, this gives more information about the history of our local mills and millers, breweries and maltings and the damage these caused to the river environment, together with what is now being done to improve it.
The panel is on the river bank near the football pitches, on the opposite bank of the river from the Methodist Church and The Eagle pub (pictured). So you can approach it either along the riverside footpath from Mill Lane or from School Lane, then Pondwicks, through the gate and past the flint & brick walls of The Maltings.
