HS2 Update 23 Apr 2016

We have received the following update from the Buckinghamshire County Council HS2 team:

(Note: previous Updates can be found on the Campaigns part of this web site at https://www.amershamsociety.org/topics/hs2/).

This E-update looks at the upcoming House of Lords Select Committee hearing and upcoming HS2 events in the County.

House of Lords Petitioning

The House of Lords petitioning period closed on the 18 April. The County Council is now preparing for possible appearances in front of the Committee which could be as early as mid-May.
The members of the Committee are yet to be appointed; further details will be published when available.

You can chose to subscribe to updates from the House of Lords Select Committee by entering your email into the ‘email alerts’ box on the official website. This is located on the right hand side three quarters down the page at http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/lords-select/high-speed-rail-london-west-midlands-bill-select-committee-lords/.

Receipt of petitions

The Council has been alerted by the MPs offices that the Lords’ Office dealing with petitions has had some issues with sending out receipts for petitions. They are sending out responses to petitioners but due to the large number of petitions received on the last day of petitioning they have been delayed in doing this. It is likely some confirmations of receipt will not be sent until next week (week beginning 25 April). The Lords’ office are sending them in the order received so if you know somebody who emailed their petition on the last day please tell them to be patient in waiting for the receipt to arrive.

HS2 Information Event – Waddesdon

HS2 Ltd has arranged an event as an opportunity for local residents to find out more about the project and what it means for their local area. You will be able to talk to their experts about engineering, construction, property, the environment and more, see maps and plans of the project near you and ask questions and explore the proposals in more detail.

On Saturday 23 April 2016 they will be running an event at Waddesdon Hall, Baker Street, Waddesdon, HP18 0LQ from 11am- 4pm. The full details for this event can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/news/hs2-information-event-23-april-2016-waddesdon.
